The great conference speaker rip off

One of the amazing things about becoming an ‘expert’ in some field of business activity or other is the attention you get from professional conference organisers. They rarely want to actually pay you instead they try to tantalise you with the idea that their conferences are great ways to network and market your services. While you can meet some interesting people, it is, in fact, a pretty inefficient way of marketing. After awhile you wake up and just put a fee on your speaking services, that sends them running. My friend, co-author, and highly skilled and sought after presenter on social media has an amusing post about a dopey approach he got today. Well worth reading especially if you have had some conference organiser targeting you with the old ‘marketing and networking opportunity’ routine.
