Election drives explosive growth in traffic to political blogs

America’s most popular political blog, the Huffington Post, had 4.54 million unique visitors in September 2008 up a whopping 474 per cent on the same month in the previous year, according to a comScore study.

Other sites experiencing rapid growth include Politico, up 344 per cent to 2.4 million unique visitors, Realclearpolitics, up 489 per cent to 1.1 million, and Daily Kos, up 381 per cent to 0.9 million.

comScore also says that political blog visitors are older and wealthier than the overall U.S. Internet population. Political blogs are also more popular with men than women.
