Will you be swayed by the whopper virgins?

Duncan Riley has pointed me in the direction of the latest travesty from the bizarre land of advertising and public relations. This gives new meaning to the idea of American cultural imperialism. And it’s just plain weird.

Burger King has done a documentary evocatively titled: “Whopper Virgins”. The idea is that to resolve that age-old debate about the relative merits of Big Macs and Whoppers it is necessary to find people, in the world’s remote corners, whose lives have hitherto been untouched by the miracles of modern advertising and modern American fast food.

These poor sods are then going to be induced to eat samples of these two global products and pronounce on which is better. Given that the ‘documentary’ is being paid for by Burger King, I reckon the whopper is likely to come out on top.
