Premier Rees was alive to the irony:
“This speech was written before the last week so it’s full of light-hearted puns around excessive amounts of alcohol,” Mr Rees said in his speech.
“I’m having to scan as I go through.”
Meanwhile, health ministers have agreed to look at tougher restrictions on alcohol advertising. The idea was presented by Health Minister John Della Bosca at a meeting in Brisbane yesterday.
At least, Rees was smart enough not to get all mock serious about the latest moral panic whipped up by ‘do something’ politicians.
