A few days ago I criticised Lisa Pryor for this line in her opinion piece: “that is what reporters do; they write news stories from a range of perspectives”. Today, she has responded with a fulsome explanation of what she means by ‘perspectives’. Lisa explains, for instance:
For all the balance and objectivity, the very act of publishing such a story rather than ignoring it aids the perspective of anti-tax activists.
I think that’s fair enough. As a PR practitioner of long-standing I well know the value of getting ‘your’ facts, and hence ‘your perspective’, published. If Lisa had replaced ‘from’ in her piece with ‘which aid’ (a range of perspectives’) then I would not have quibbled.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, Lisa.
