Optus, Motorola do it to me again

Last October, I wrote about the problems I was having with Optus and getting charged for ringtones from Motorola. I was credited for the overcharging but no reasonable answer for how the ‘mistake’ could occur was ever forthcoming from Optus or Motorola. In October, I got Optus to bar my phone from getting ringtones which they assured me they had done. All goes well for awhile and then bugger me in comes the December bill with a $39 charge from Motorola for ringtones. Once again, Optus undertake to credit me the $39 and yes they agree that I asked for ringtones to blocked from my account and yes it’s mysterious and yes they will look into it (or ‘investigate’ it as they grandly asserted) and yes they will get in-touch to assure me that I really am blocked from getting billed for ringtones (none of which I’ve ever received BTW) – I haven’t heard anything yet, I guess the enquiries are taking a little longer than expected (LOL).

    Trevor,

Since getting a Blackberry linked to my Optus account some months ago I have suddenly started receiving spam claiming to originate from Optus on a regular basis. Urgent requests to update my credit card details, threats to remove my access to the Optus Zoo, which I’ve never visited and is apparently something designed for infants with rich parents who pay the bills and even messages in French purporting to have automatically selected a special free randomly allotted dividend in Euromillions to my Optus email (just call these numbers in Paris) except that I don’t have an Optus email but use a different so called service provider for emails anyhow.

I have even been rung by a voice allegedly from Optus asking me to ’stand by’ for an important message and offer. I don’t stand by for anyone.
