This is one of the great blues standards. An ideal juke joint tune. It was recorded by Canned Heat on their debut album in 1967. And by Bob Dylan on Modern Times 40 years later. It never loses it’s appeal. Here it is being played by the legendary R L Burnside. Burnside was convicted for murder and infamously said: “I didn’t mean to kill nobody … I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Him dying was between him and the Lord.”

From readwriteweb: ”Yahoo introduced a new version of its Yahoo Music artist homepagestoday, which now include links to YouTube videos, Pandora radio stations, Last.fm, and photos from Flickr. Yahoo also plans to open up its API so that others can build applications for Yahoo Music, and, at a later point, artists will be able to create their own customized pages on Yahoo Music as well. Thanks to its drag-and-drop interface, users can easily customize the new artist homepages to their own liking.

Yahoo killed its own music subscription service last year, and besides giving users more options to explore new music on its site, the company is clearly also thinking about cutting costs by promoting other services without having to worry about licensing costs itself. Indeed, as Eliot Van Buskirk points out, this brings Yahoo back to its core mission of organizing the Web’s content.”

Lyrics to “Fork in the Road”

Got a pot belly.
It’s not too big.
Gets in my way
when I’m driving my rig.
 Driving this country
 in a big old rig,
things I see
 mean a lot.

My friend has a pickup.
 Drives his kid to school.
 Then he takes his wife
to beauty school.

 Now she’s doin’ nails.
 Gonna get a job.
 Got a good teacher.

There’s a fork in the road ahead.
I don’t know which way I’m gonna turn.
There’s a fork in the road ahead.

Forgot this year,
to salute the troops.
They’re all still there
in a fucking war. It’s no good.
 Whose idea was that?

I’ve got hope,
 but you can’t eat hope.
I’m not done.
Not giving up.
Not cashing in.
 Too late.

There’s a bailout coming but it’s not for me.
It’s for all those creeps watching tickers on TV.
There’s a bailout coming but it’s not for me.

I’m a big rock star.
 My sales have tanked,
 but I still got you.
 Thanks!
 Download this.
 Sounds like shit.

Keep on bloggin’ ’til the power goes out,
 and your battery’s dead.

Twist and Shout.
On the radio.
 Those were the days.
 Bring ‘em back.

There’s a bailout coming but it’s not for you.
It’s for all those creeps hiding what they do.
There’s a bailout coming but it’s not for you.
Bailout coming but it’s not for you.

Got my new flat-screen.
 Got it repo’d now.
They picked it up.
Left a hole in the wall.
 Last Saturday.
 Missed the Raiders game.

There’s a bailout coming but it’s not for you.
There’s a bailout coming but it’s not for you.
It’s for all those creeps hiding what they do.

The cowboy came from out of the west
With his snakeskin boots and his bulletproof vest
Gang of goons and his big war chest
Fortunate son he was doubly blessed
Corporate cronies and the chiefs of staff
Bowing to the image of the golden calf
Startin’ up wars in the name of God’s son
Gonna blow us all the way to kingdom come
Man of God, man of God
That ain’t the teachings of a man of God
(From “Man of God” by Eliza Gilkyson)

Here she is playing Hard times in Babylon off her latest album
