You may have noticed an abundance of discussion relating to the new Conan O’Brien TV show on the White Noise blog. Late night comedy/variety chat shows are a passion of mine, so my interest in this is much higher than for most new TV show launches.
On Friday, the extract of Bill Carters new book The War For Late Night made its way online. The book details the decision by NBC to move Jay leno back to the 11:35pm timeslot, which led to O’Brien leaving the network. Reading the extract whetted my appetite for the book and for the new Conan show, which airs locally on GEM next Tuesday night (Nov 9, 11:30pm).
Just over twenty minutes ago, the Team Coco Twitter feed announced that at 11pm on the US east coast (the same timeslot that Conan will air on TBS), they will stream on the Internet an event called ‘Show Zero’. One would assume, based on the name, that this will reveal the show, format, and set of the new show. In effect, it will be the first episode. For those of you who are not all that keen to work out the time difference, this has the episode streaming in 24 hours, 45 minutes time. That’s 2pm AEDST on Tuesday.
The show can be watched at any of the following sites:
