Well, look what fell off the back of a truck. As mentioned in my story in Crikey today, the ABC is doing a complete re-write of its editorial policies. Today material went up on the ABC staff intranet spelling out the approach, and seeking comment.

I am pushing another deadline at the moment, but I post the material here.  Pile in and comment if you want.

I’ll say what I think sometime over the weekend.

“…The ABC often grossly manipulates and presents news and current affairs on the net, tv and radio, with a view to promote the Liberal Party and or make a political attack on the government…”

Now that I’ve stopped laughing; maybe you could identify for us one ABC show – TV and/or radio – where the host is a well recognised “conservative” who uses thier forum to “promote the Liberal Party and or make a political attack on the government”?

Take your time…I’m here all week.

There needs to be more claims of right wing bias on the ABC, to counteract all the claims by dunderheaded conservatives who parrot the ‘left wing bias’ drivel.

    [6. Fair and honest dealing
Principles: The ABC aims to deal fairly with any person or organisation. Open and honest dealing is essential to maintaining trust with audiences and with those who participate in or are otherwise directly affected by ABC content. In rare circumstances, deception or a breach of an undertaking may be justified. Because of the potential damage to trust, deception or breach of an undertaking should be explained openly afterwards.]

I think the ABC takes this to mean they can subcontract out political news and opinion to the right wing media.

    [4. Impartiality
Principles: The ABC has a statutory duty to ensure that the gathering and presentation of news and information is impartial according to the recognised standards of objective journalism. Impartial, accurate and fair coverage of news and information equips audiences to make up their own minds.]

Well it certainly fails on this point!

The ABC often grossly manipulates and presents news and current affairs on the net, tv and radio, with a view to promote the Liberal Party and or make a political attack on the government.

They have earned themselves the title ‘our dishonest ABC’.

it did not fall off any truck. It was given to you by Mark Scott or Mick Millett or Paul Chadwick.

Will you kindly go somewhere private and have a long talk to someone sane.

This is getting very embarrassing. For you.

EDIT FROM MARGARET SIMONS. INTERESTING. THIS COMMENT CAME FROM INSIDE FAIRFAX FINANCE – IP 203.26.177.2
