The 13th National Rural Health Conference kicked off in Darwin yesterday, and below are some of the introductory reports. Two hashtags are running – follow #ruralhealthconf and #NRHC15.

Also follow @WePublicHealth, where rural mental health advocate Alison Fairleigh is guest tweeting, and @JenniferDoggett, who is covering the event for the Croakey Conference Reporting Service.

Dr Carole Reeve, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Remote Health in Alice Springs spoke on: The challenge of providing fair care

The NT Health Minister John Elferink addressed the opening session.

Senator Fiona Nash, the Assistant Federal Minister for Health, also spoke.

The social media workshop sounds to have been a hit.

Some were jumping for joy to get to #ruralhealthconf…

While the hardship of drought was evident on some of the journeys to Darwin.

And some roadtrips ended only just in time…

Stay tuned for more conference coverage from Jennifer Doggett – but can she match the NT News standards?
