There’s been a bit on recently.

What a lovely man
What a lovely man

This photo was sent to me by the utterly marvelous Gwyneth who keeps sending me Koala photos that I have already seen, which is brilliant as her versions are often better than the ones I have. Don’t stop sending Koala photos please Gwyneth. And thankyou. And you too Amy! And Phil.

My Koala photo experiment has been a great success and shows that if you put koala photos on your blog, your traffic will go up and if you don’t it goes down again.

A couple of other things happened:

I drew a picture for the Twitter 365 Project and put it up the day after that Saturday. @wolfcat suggested I put it on ebay and sell it to raise money and so I did. @andrewbarnett said he would print it on fancy paper and then I could sign it, and so he is and I will when he sends it to me. I am jealous because he is clearly a paper and printing guy. “Do you have a favourite artist’s paper or is all your work digital? I have some new bamboo paper from Hahnemühle that I might try.” My mouth waters when people talk dirty about paper like that.

My work is currently mostly digital, and I miss paper a lot. But there is just no time. I normally have about four hours to get a cartoon ready and paper just doesn’t cut it, so to speak.

The picture I drew for twitter365 is now here on ebay. I drew it on my iphone using an app called Brushes. It is of some kind of generic marsupial. It is already up to $1200. It was up to $2000 but then I got this email:

I need to retract my bid, I woke this morning to find it had been placed to my horror by an angry ex-girlfriend as she was leaving my house. I had been merely looking at this item when she turned up for an argument, I cannot afford $2000 as I am unemployed and badly need this bid retracted so it doesnt mislead other buyers as well, please help (Desperate!)

I thought this was pretty funny even if it wasn’t true. I am not retracting it though, sucker. KIDDING of course I am, what is wrong with you people?

Crikey is also raising money by selling prints of some of my cartoons. For $25 you can have one of three shown here, or for $100 you can choose your own. I will be signing all of these with my own hands and a pen. How weird is this? I am just not used to the “could you please sign this” thing. Whatever, I’ll get over it.

So far all these things have raised about $5000. Thank you! I would be quite pleased with myself except the whole thing is so unbearably awful.

Also, a gigantic thanks to @candysnap who is looking after Tabby the Evacucat. Tabby is a one of the members of our family who have evacuated Warburton which isn’t currently in the immediate vicinity of the fire but that doesn’t seem to mean much. We have some of the others at our house including Zoffie the Evacudog who is Peanut’s boyfriend. Peanut is very happy. It’s a long story. Will post photos at some point. Here is a picture from very very recent memory:

Better late, etc…FD your cartoon of the two dogs reminds me of a story I read about Nöel Coward. A niece saw two dogs humping in the road and rushed to her Uncle Nöel. ‘What are those two dogs doing uncle Nöel?’ ‘Well Lucinda, the first doggy is blind and the second dog has to push her all the way to St Pancras.’
Not bad for a split- second reply?

    OMG!
That cartoon’s a shocking slander on innocent kangaroos.

For pity’s sake FD….Think of the children and Steven Fielding.

I don’t remember anything about a memory lapse.

One day, I would like to read “How First Dog Became the Crikey Cartoonist”, written in the style of a superhero origin story.
