Here’s the news - women risk their health and wellbeing every day by simply managing their fertility though contraceptive, pregnancy, birth and menopause options. All are risky. It is women who experience teenage pregnancies, hormonal related illnesses and cancers, maternal sickness and death so please give us some credit.

Lawrie appears determined to hang onto leadership despite the numbers running against her. If the caucus remains split at 5-3 she will need at least 60 per cent of the rank and file to vote her way. If, as is widely expected, she loses even one of those supporters then the odds and the numbers will be firmly stacked against her.

Robyn Lambley is seen as a safe - and perhaps the only choice - for the CLP deputy. With strong representation outside of Darwin it was only logical that the deputy should come from the bush. Problem is that the CLP member for Braitling, Adam Giles, seen by many as in no small way responsible for the CLP's recent success in the bush and thus best deserving of the deputy's job, is a key ally of MLA for the Darwin seat of Fong Lim, Dave Tollner

Congratulations to Marie - and her family - on winning this richly deserved award. By all accounts at least one of the other authors thought that they had the prize in the bag - and was somewhat crestfallen when Marie walked away with the goods.
