Pure Poison IconGuess what image News.com.au picked for a story headlined “Advocates push for an airline passenger dress code“. (Pretend that the post title didn’t give it away.)

Picture after the jump. (Pure Poison is a family website.)

I read news.com.au for the articles.

Maybe we should have a new award, for Most Contrived Justification For Running A Picture Of A Model In Her Underwear.

This one’ll be hard to top for this week. But I’m sure there’ll be other entries.

We recommend

They used to have LFL on in a pub I used to drink at, and its certainly more real than wrestling. I played a year of gridiron in melbourne years ago. Some of those sides were better than the ones in our league. They were probably better than the side I played for. Its no worse than beach volleyball.

    Or roller derby.

Today’s nomination comes from the classy Daily Telegraph’s sports pages :

    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/lauryn-eagle-eyes-glory-in-lingerie-football-league/story-e6freye0-1226208444426

The Lingerie Football League has about as much legitimacy as a sport as the WWF (or whatever it is called these days) does. At this rate Gail Kelly with have to start doing press conferences in swimwear just to get Westpac a mention in the finance pages at news.com.au…..

[I would think overhyped stories of climate change (are there any other kind).]

yes, the denialist drivel lies you hoover up on a daily basis…

but they’re ‘stories’ from the fantasy world…you know, where you live.

The Lingerie Football League has about as much legitimacy as a sport as the WWF or whatever it is called these days. Or AFL for that matter.

I always wondered what bogans have in their wardrobes and now I know.

I also know now what they look like in their underwear.

    I really wish I didn’t, now that I do.

Oh Kristen Smith, so bitter, and so lacking in faith that the tabbies can shoehorn a girl in a bikini into any story. Especially something to do with sea levels and warming – duh!!

As for your intimate knowledge of the minds of others – what’s your secret?

  7. Brizben

And now for the blog that asks the question on whether Jackie O is a misogynist: “What’s up, Jackie? Do you hate women, too?”

@Matthew of Canberra: Blankets available for hire – $25 per square inch!

And how is the RELATED click bait box profane lesbians.. (as distinct from religious ones…?) related to … anything except unexpunged lasciviousness on the part of the pathetic Mr Pooters slavering over the pic?

[News seems to be on a bit of a misogyny streak right now.]

    Now?

Ever since Gillard became PM the organisation has rolled out one blowhard after another, and published one shitty beat up after another shitty beat up all centred around her gender.

Distracting earlobes, appalling hair, wavy hands, drab wardrobe, she’s not a mother therefore she has no connection to most Australian women etc, etc, etc. The DT even published Gai Waterhouse of all people at the time of the Japan tsunami, saying she didn’t know which was more horrific: the scenes of devastation behind the PM as she visited the region, or what she chose to wear.

News ltd is Blokesworld. Plain and simple.

[from the likes of TT and ACA, who seemingly cannot go a week without a ‘story’ about the topical challenge of finding fitting bras for large-breasted women.]
Can’t you just stop thinking of yourself for one minute and think of these womens backs? The back pain must absolutely kill these poor women.

  12. Kristen Smith

I would think overhyped stories of climate change (are there any other kind).

Most of the target readers for such trifles, would either be offended politically correctly,(see this blog post as an example) or would not find a spunky chick in a bikini enlivening.

  13. Deziner

News seems to be on a bit of a misogyny streak right now. Yesterday (or was it Saturday?) they made a big deal out of Gillard’s choice of gifts to accept (skin care products) even though she followed all the rules to the letter, and the Courier Mail had an article about an MP who’s been accused of being a misogynist, but the article in question defended him and called women the “fairer sex” FFS.

  14. Matthew of Canberra

Hang on … does the article go on to suggest that IS the proposed dress code?

I reckon that’s going to get a bit cold on long flights.

  15. fractious

@ Holden yes, but what about prostrate health?

  16. EKDV

“Go ahead: Check your scalp for ringworm”

    /Obscure?

  17. Holden Back

Something about prostate health might prove a bridge too far. But then there’s always the rubber glove angle . . .

  18. Tomus Barava

I’m amazed they didn’t go for a photo gallery?.
The TitillationGraph doesn’t even bother with a story for this one, just a link that says
    [Clothes off, cash in]

We’re certainly not at the standard of the UK gutter press, bu tit [heh, accidental mistype left in] is remarkable just how regularly the Hun contrives an excuse to show a bit of flesh. Goor!

  22. revolutionary

There would be stiff competition (no pun intended) for such an award from the likes of TT and ACA, who seemingly cannot go a week without a ‘story’ about the topical challenge of finding fitting bras for large-breasted women.
